My dad worked on the north tower, and he has, to this day, a key to the entrance of the World Trade Center. I am curious

document this as much as possible (old photographs, paystubs, what door it went to, what tower4 he worked in, where was he that day, etc). I would think this would have some value, but these will be so easily faked that unless some kind of proof if included with it., it would be essentially worthless

Im glad something as small as a key has been kept. We never want to forget what happened and who really suffered from the attacks. Im so glad you have this piece of history!!!!

Can I play devils advocate and say that this item, although rare, may not have any value at all due to the circumstances surrounding it. People tend to avoid anything that has so much negative energy. I am not saying it is the same thing at all, but Nazi propaganda is pretty much worthless due to the negative nature of owning such things. I feel like alot of people would that this as the same, especially since it is only a key.

Disaster related items will generally take a generation for the value to seriously increase such as the Titanic.

It would be worth more in a museum.

One Generation while not an exact period of time ranges from 20-30 years - which would put us right in the middle of your proposed time for inflation to take place

That is fair, Im not looking for reassurance since I am not going to sell it, I was just looking for opinions and to start a discussion.
